Avro Monocar (1926)

Sir Alliott Verdon-Roe's Monocar now resides in the Aviation museum in Southampton, appropriate for the creation of one of Britain's aviation pioneers. This machine was featured in the Top Gear FF programme in April 1988. See here, 3 minutes in: https://tinyurl.com/ybyu4a8x
Mostly hidden behind the 1926 machine in this photo is the Velocette-based Monocar that Sir Alliott built in the 1950s. You can just see its screen and nose fairing.
2018 UPDATE: The museum is now called the Solent Sky Museum and both Avro Monocars are still here. This is the website. http://www.solentskymuseum.org
2020 Update. There's a wonderful Pathé news short video of Sir Alliot riding his Velo-powered machine, aged 80, here: https://www.britishpathe.com/video/ageless-pioneer
