Field Cottage: home of Malcolm Newell

The Garden of the Prophet, better known as Field Cottage, Heddington in 2011. There is a corner of this garden, which will be forever Malcolm Newell, since his ashes were scattered here. Malcolm created many memorable FFs right here in the 1980s, and he was actually buried in the garden when he died in 1994. However, he was dug up and cremated when the cottage was sold after the death of his wife Janet. Jan was alive when the Malcolm Newell Millennium Memorial run took place in May 2000, and Field Cottage was the start of the event. See here: http://www.bikeweb.com/image/tid/21
The roof was thatched until the early 1980s, as it had been for the previous 400 years......This year Field Cottage was the very last FF landmark visited during BruceFFest, just for myself and Julian Bond. PNB Photo: Paul Blezard September 11th 2011
