Now we've got a handle on it

The Voyagers may be slipping into history - FJ is on the VMCC vehicle register! - but the Voyager handgrips just keep on. Human hands haven't evolved as much as FF design in the last twenty five years.

They're made using 'cold'(room tempreture)poured Polyurethane (PU) into the original Voyager moulds, in which the handgrip internal steelwork has been fitted. They bolt to a simple tapered hole in the hand control yoke, retained by an M8 bolt. The PU is a Devcon product, called "Flexane 80", available in the UK through Brammer at least. The moulds were originally taken off a pair of 'bucks hand made from bodyfiller. The grips on Voyagers show slight polishing after decades of use.

Like much of the Mk11 front suspension and steering these grips and the hand control are generic parts, available to fit any FF of suitable scale. Like all prototype, hand made, parts they're expensive compared with a pair of clip-ons and some ball end levers...
