These machines are huge sellers in France because you don't need a motorcycle licence to drive one.

MP3 LTs - no motorcycle licence required, EU-wide!

It's not only in France that you can ride an MP3 on a car licence – it's throughout the 27 countries of the European Union – provided that it's an LT model. The LT versions have a fractionally wider track than the motorcycle licence-required machines. They also have an annoying right foot brake, just where you want to rest your right foot! (They also have the traditional left hand rear brake of all modern automatic scooters). The biggest version is the MP3 500 LT, with top speed well in excess of 90mph/150kph! PNB
