BMW's electric C1E Prototype (2009-2010)

After production of the petrol-powered, rider-protective C1 ceased in 2003 BMW worked on an electric prototype which used a lot of elements from the American-Polish Vectrix maxiscooter. By 2009 it was well enough developed for the company to make a promotional video of a young woman riding one around Munich, helmetless and seat-belted. For reasons best known to themselves BMW then dropped the idea of protecting the rider and instead developed the C evolution which was first shown in prototype form at the 2012 London Olympics and released for sale in 2014.
