RIP Ian Pegram

I was truly shocked and saddened to discover that my friend Ian Pegram died of Covid-19 in Bournemouth on Sunday February 28th 2021. As anyone who met him will know, Ian was a top bloke, and I can still hardly believe that he’s gone. My thoughts are with his wife Juliet and family. RIP. This is a photo of Ian in his creation, Genesis, back in 2007, four years after he started the project and its third 'incarnation'. I sold my Quasar in order to buy Genesis from Ian in 2010, and many of the adventures I've had with it can be seen in this folder, as can the evolution of the machine from a cosmetically damaged, then stripped down standard Mk1 Suzuki Burgman AN650 to a proper safer-maxiscooter complete with BMW C1 screen and seat belts and capable of cruising comfortably at 80-90mph while returning 65mpg with a top speed of 106mph. Peter Rosenberg adds:
I received a text from Ian on the 19th January, saying that he would have to cancel a business meeting, because he'd had a positive Covid test, but that he was fine and just needed to self-isolate. Far from having given up on his FF dreams, Ian was actively working on a new FF machine, with all the drive and enthusiasm of a far younger man.
He was making an electric two-wheeler, aimed at sub-registration users (basically bicycle level technology but not pedal powered), and his aim was to influence the direction of future legislation in light of developing technology.
His passing is a sad loss to us all, whether we knew him or not, because he was a tireless campaigner for the FF format, a genuinely friendly guy and a great ambassador for our cause - he will be sadly missed.

Update: There is now a photo of Ian Pegram riding the prototype electric FF in this same folder, here: http://bikeweb.com/node/3648
