Submitted by Royce on 01-May-20 9:35amI've got a nice brochure from Peraves CZ, 2mb as a PDF. Pictures, details, vehicle data. All I have to do is figure out how to upload it here. Think I'll have to talk to Julian...
Of course you can get a brochure too, or even arrange a test drive once travel restrictions end, here's the address;-

Kawasaki - false alarm
Submitted by Royce on 28-Apr-20 4:13pmA phone call with Kawasaki UK reveales that the Endevour E-bike is just a prototype and there are currently no plans to introduce an E-bike from this manufacturer. They report their customer base is still committed to the petrol driven experience, all 3.5% of them. I'm sure there's a message to be had from this peice of news, in conjunction with the picture of Arnold's E-racer, but I'm not sure what it is...

Arnold announces....
Submitted by Royce on 27-Apr-20 12:45pmJust had a massive mail from Arnold Wagner, all in German, including documents and some quite lovely pictures of the current E-racer. It may be had news, starts with "Ein Grosse problem...." I'm hoping for a synopsis from Ingrid, anyone else on the mailing list should keep an eye open. Much too big to post here, I'll see if I can extract a picture.
If I was rich I'd buy an E-racer... As I'm not I'll get on with changing the pads on this old Voyager.
Kawasaki show E-bike
Submitted by Royce on 25-Apr-20 3:18pmThis link shows various corporate video's of Kawa's E-bike, basicallky just an electric motorised bicycle but another powertrain option. May not be as tightly integrated as the C-EVO (BMW). A full power option from a major manufactuerer. Seems modular, Looking forward to better picturess.

Conventional electric FF
Submitted by David Arthur on 22-Apr-20 5:45pmIve just shortened the wheelbase on my electric ff test mule, over 600mm to make a leg supported FF test mule, so its now the same wheelbase as Royces voyager, thanks Royce, I cant say if its optimum anything, but its a start. The vid ive posted shows you can get your feet up readily enough, and I can maneuver quite easily at walking pace, but as it is, its a recipe for a snapped leg, but seems worth pursuing further, will keep you posted. yours Dave https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKCbd4bAuJk
aerodynamics
Submitted by Bob.Walton on 17-Apr-20 9:39pmSince I have a bit of time off work, I was thinking of putting my bike inside a drop tank to improve the aerodynamics - with a few cut outs for your head and feet obviously - otherwise it would look silly

Enclosed, two seat, Electric FF coming
Submitted by Royce on 10-Feb-20 11:25amRichard Hatfield of Lightning Motorcycles has stated, (on the FF facebook page) that his company is working on an enclosed, two seat electric FF. They're very excited about it apparantly. Maybe someone more literate can put the actual page up here - Ctrl C & V doesn't do it. No specifics or dates, but it's easy to send a message to Lightning Motorcycles to encourage them... Lets hope they've done their homework
My Cut N Shut FF Ideas
Submitted by Scott Sherman on 29-Jan-20 7:37pmHello my fellow FF weirdos.
I’m Scott, here in Southern California.
I’ve read the old FF Web for years, and now this website, but I don’t know if I’ve ever posted before.
Anyway, see what you think about these ideas of mine, and please share your feedback.
I think the frame and swing arm of the Kawasaki Concours14 or the very similar ZX-14 may lend themselves very well to a FF conversion without frame modification, and perhaps using swing arm modifications.
This would certainly be no mild-mannered efficiency special, but a high-torque powerhouse brute.
More on lighting
Submitted by Royce on 24-Jan-20 11:16amThis relates to the recent posts on altering the light patterns on FFs to make twin headlight patterns easier to identify and range, (eg. "Twin headlights on FFs"). The excellent site https://www.carbuilder.com/uk/, source of everything needed to fit out a motor vehicle, has a range of LED lights and https://www.carbuilder.com/uk/daytime-running-lights looks promising - cheap, easy to fit. (Describe it as "auxilliary lighting" rather than "daytime running lights" to run it with headlights on)
I have a location on FJ in mind, I'll try and post a picture unless someone else does it first.

electric motorcycles, regulations
Submitted by Royce on 22-Jan-20 4:42pmI've been looking into the regulations invoved in registering a prototype electric two wheeler. Specifically "Motorcycle single vehicle approval" which covers FFs.
It's chaos.
FF motorcycles available for sale
Submitted by David Arthur on 14-Jan-20 12:35amHi everybody, From my title entry I assume I am at this time the only manufacturer of FF motorcycles in the UK and possibly even beyond. I had hoped to have posted this after forwarding my second outing of my current electric FF project/mule, but this has not been possible due to reasons below, as it would appear for all my hard work I have now been rewarded with another hernia, so it will be several more weeks before I can work properly again hence the delay.
Close, but no banana
Submitted by Royce on 09-Jan-20 11:21amHere's another entry from EMN; a Chinese product that demonstrates probably the best example of imagination failure so far https://electricmotorcycles.news/niu-introduces-two-new-electric-vehicles-at-ces-2020/ See, in one entry, a more or less conventional electric motorcycle with moderate range, desgined for urban commuters. See, in an immediately adjacent entry, what would be an improvement on BMW's C.1. lower, electric and in all respects an E-FF - except that it's got two front wheels and it's a tilting three wheeler - and the seat back is shown in the passenger position...

More news from Pearaves
Submitted by Royce on 02-Jan-20 12:17pmHere's a mail recently recived from Peraves, which I reproduce in full. Ability to speak German not essential as there's a paragraph in English. This goes some way to explain recent events. Basically, the production of the 'K' powered monotracers stopped because they couldn't meet current EU emission rules. Hence the E-tracer announced a couple of years ago. Then it seems there was a breakdown on the relationship with the people supposed to supply the electronics and other bits that can't be fixed with a hammer. I expect m'learned friends may well have some input there.
Peraves CZ announces latest "E-racer" for 2019
Submitted by Royce on 31-Dec-19 1:56pmPeraves CZ boss Arnold Wagner has announced this years new Monoracer (The new name of the Monotracer/Ecomobile family), an all-electric development of the earlier (2016) e-powered model. Reasonably claimed to be the worlds most efficient street vehicle and a "super Tesla on two wheels", it's scheduled for market launch in summer this year, with sales due to start in August. A downpayment with order of 44,500 Euro's, followed by a final payment on delivery of 44,000 Euro's, makes a Tesla look cheap.

FFs by accident..
Submitted by Royce on 13-Dec-19 1:02pmInteresting entry on Electric Motorcycle News (EMN) the online "newspaper". See https://electricmotorcycles.news/blitz-is-hiring-a-technical-manager-and-technicians-for-its-benelux-operations/ for an early example of an electric cargo scooter from a company that overtly recognises the potential market, rather than relying on enterprising youth tacking deivery boxes onto cheap ICE scooters.

Twin Headlamps on an FF.
Submitted by pulhamdown on 05-Nov-19 1:42pmI recently read an account of Royce's accident with the Fiat 132 on Voyager 002, back in the 80s. It said that the accident happened in the dark on a country road. I wondered if this was correct. I had always thought it happened in Bristol. If it is correct, I wonder whether the motorist had mistaken two closely placed headlamps on the bike, for a car much further away. As many FFs have twin headlamps, including my Delta, it may be something to consider. I certainly have no wish to emulate Royce's crash testing regime!
Finally, the penny drops...
Submitted by Royce on 14-Oct-19 11:07amThe seventies 'oil shocks' showed the need for more efficient vehicles, a need that has not become less urgent... Two wheelers are the most efficient way possible of transporting two people and some luggage but will never achieve a mass market and any useful effect, unless they avoid the deficiencies in comfort, handling and safety sufffered by the motorised bicycle.
