BMW almost get the airbox right

Fortunatlely the airbox is made of Polypropylene (PP) so it's really easy to cut with a hacksaw or a Stanley knife, then it can be welded back together, adding a piece of sheet PP from stock, using a soldering iron and a strip of PP cut off as a filler 'rod'. It had to go, got in the way of the rider's back and that's more important than airbox volume!

Would have been better too, if the sides had been actually, rather than almost symetrical, another little anomally to lose in bodywork. Still, all in all, not a bad effort from BMW. They definitely got that mouunting screw in the right place.

Height to top of roll hoop is 5" more than a GT40. Not really a low seat at all.
