VW's '313mpg' XL1 hybrid

VW's XL1 has been much-discussed on the Feet First list, as has its super-aerodynamic 3-wheeled prototype predecessor which was designed to sip less than one litre of fuel per 100kms travelled (282mpgUK,). Now this diesel+electric hybrid four wheeler is in production and on sale, with a claimed Cd of 0.19 and a claimed fuel consumption of 313mpgUK thanks to the electric input and brake regen, and a very light weight (for a car!) of only 795kg.
Top speed is supposed to be the same as a Mk1 Yamaha Tmax500 at 99mph.
