Blez rides the 1912 Wilkinson

Yours Truly about to ride the 1912 Wilkinson that was filmed as one of the earliest 'proto-FFs' for the Top Gear gathering at Wroughton. The chap who owned it was kind enough to remove its sidecar especially for the occasion. It felt to me as if the decades of sidecar attachment had bent the frame! As a result of this occasion I was subsequently offered the chance to ride the Wilkinson owned by the self-same Wilkinson Sword razor company in the Pioneer Run from Epsom to Brighton but sadly, it never quite happened. Would still love to do it though!!
I'm pleased to report that there was another Wilkinson in the 2017 event, which successfully made it to Brighton, over a century after it was made.
The other machines in the background of this photo too are: The Yamaha FZR1000 I rode right at the beginning of the item; Peter Lawrence's half-completed but running Delta 930, and the two machines ridden by Sammy Miller, from his museum: the 1920s Neracar and the Head First 1953 Norton Kneeler. There are more photos of them elsewhere in this folder and in 2017 the Delta is running better than ever in the hands of Colin Ferguson, thanks to the addition of a new carburettor.
The converted VW van was the Lawrence family motorhome at the time. PNB
