Elspeth Beard & An Early Eco

Elspeth Beard in Prague Airport, having just stepped off a plane from London – her small suitcase easily fitted into the luggage compartment in the back. I had driven this 1987 Ecomobile the 120 miles from the Brno GP track to collect her and the journey back only took about an hour and a half. I think this photo provides a good illustration of the fact that you don't have to wear any special clothing at all in an Eco, nor indeed a helmet, and yet you're better protected than a grand prix rider in full leathers and body armour – provided your wear your seat belt. This yellow-striped machine is one of the first four Ecomobiles built and was Felix Wagner's personal machine for a long time. PNB
