The V50 Quasar in the early 1980s

This is how the V50 Quasar was built by Malcolm Newell for a chap in the North East of England called, IIRC, John Golden. I visited him, and saw the bike parked in his front garden in the village of Seahouses, in about 1989, by which time it had not run for several years. It was bought by Eddie McDonnel who took the roof off and turned it into a V50 Phasar, much like Monty Billington's. Note the Tait hub centre steering and riveted wheels. PNB
John Bruce recalls: "I delivered it for Malcolm in the 1980s to its first owner, in the north east. The photo is outside my mum and dad's house as the new owner lived only a few miles away."

Goodbye to all that?

I don't think the conjunction of this piece on Bikeweb and the EMN article on the Peraves, presents this site in a very good light. Instead of showcasing and promoting the leading edge of FF developments in the world, Bikeweb seems to focus mainly on ancient English vehicles that could be in museums - or the VMCC. Meanwhile EMN has started doing the showcasing. Good luck to them.

It's not like there aren't things going on. Why aren't Journo's covering these developments? Why are the bike magazines ignoring E-bikes, why aren't the major manus making E-bikes, let alone E-FFs. It's 'not their traditional market' but are they all too chickenshit to seek new ones? What's the story on Lightning Motorcycles, the only other outfit in the world to show an enclosed E-FF?

Is it still the old story "It's not happening in England and the world doesn't matter"? It's happening in the world even though England doesn't matter!
