Banana in Paris September 1983

A rather hirsute Blez with the Flying Banana and the long-suffering Ludmila Stiebner after the eventful trip to the 1983 Bol d'Or at Paul Ricard in the South of France. The drive shaft broke on the way back, but was welded up by a friendly Frenchman in a small village. This happened twice more before I got back to Blighty, whereupon it broke as I drove off the ferry!
The whole story is recounted in 'FFing off to the Bol' in the July 1984 edition of Motorcycle Sport. This photo was taken by Ian Dunn, who also took the action pix in the story and heroically took Ludmila on the back of his Laverda 750 all the way to the South of France and back, what with the Banana being a single seater'n'all. Ian's own girlfriend of the time can also be seen in the photo; she had flown out to Paris. (The Banana was subsequently converted to a very cosy 1+1 seating mode by Malcolm Newell) PNB
