The 1957 V8 Moto Guzzi
The legendary 1957 V8 Moto Guzzi 500 in Sammy Miller's museum. Thanks to having an unprecedented 78bhp, combined with its aerodynamic 'dustbin' fairing, this phenomenal machine was capable of exceeding 170mph when most of its rivals were at least 20mph slower.
1957 was the last year that such bodywork was permitted. From the start of the 1958 season the fairings of grand prix machines were restricted to the space within the wheel axles. That rule still applies today, except in electric motorcycle racing. PNB
