John Malfoy and the Quasar that was originally Malcolm Newell's demonstrator, but which spent several years in the Bristol Industrial Museum, which was where it was based when I took this photo in Shepton Mallet in 1997. John designed the Quasar's distinctive rear light unit and went on to build several of the original 21 Quasars in Calne, for Romarsh Ltd, under licence from Wilson Bros of Bristol. Wilson Bros sold the machine to an Italian museum and was repainted it in its original striking black and orange colour scheme. It was bought by Louis Thompson in 2017 and returned to England, as can be seen here: http://bikeweb.com/node/3343. Louis rides it regularly, often to Bristol, where it was originally built. PNB
