If it runs the right way round, it should be possible to bolt on some type of clutch/starter and gearbox to make this "the" laid flat FF engine everyone has been looking for

Not really much like a Linto – it's the NC750 you want!
This photo of a Silver Wing engine tilted over, instead of vertical as it runs in its usual chassis, has been superseded by events. The NC700/750 engines, as used in the Vultus, are much better suited because they're designed to run horizontal in the first place, have more torque, a bit more power and are much, more economical!
