Electric Akira FF

An intriguing photo of an all-electric, naked version of a Kaneda-from-Akira FF next to a fully bodied one. Not much further info yet. Presumably in Japan. PNB

Electric more futuristic than petrol-power?

Well, at least the fact that the naked machine is electric makes it a bit more futuristic than the petrol-powered, full-bodied Kaneda machine alongside it...

Objectives?

I'm labouring under the illusion that the entire point of FF development is viable and attractive alternatives to current PTW designs that have failed in the marketplace. In this context. while appropriate, the fact of E-power is irrelevent if the vehicle is niether viable or attractive. It's All about the vehicle. I suggest that FJ and it's five kin illustrate this point rather well. Clearly the entire Voyager powertrain is laughably obsolete but the vehicle still represents a global benchmark in terms of those old objectives of comfort, handling, safety and efficiency. Anything that improves on those qualities, in a similarly convenient package, would be newsworthy - not just futuristic but presentistic, useful today.

Surely taking something good and making it better, rather than merely regurgitating previous styling excercies, is the best path for aspiring designers and engineers? Do Better!
