JB on BMW CE04 at MCN ExCel Show (2024)

Julian Bond, founder of this website, tries BMW's CE04 electric scooter for size and demonstrates its disappointing lack of backrest at the MCN Show at London's ExCel centre. There is a so-called 'backrest' available as an option, but it's nothing of the sort – it's barely worthy of the name bumstop – in fact 'bumpstop' would be more appropriate!
See the bumstop in the photo of the CE04 in Surrey, here: https://bikeweb.com/node/3724.
The only true backrest available from BMW is the one built into the optional top box, as shown on the police version in this folder – great for the passenger, useless for the rider, unless it were designed to slide forward, which it isn't. That would be a good idea though! PNB

Just needs a keen energetic type* to come up with an aftermarket seatback/tailsection - Assuming BMS actually get this to market.
